WVFD Annual Fund Drive

March 20, 2023

Dear Friends and Neighbors of Williamsburg,

The men and women of the Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Department once again respectfully request your assistance by supporting our annual fund drive. As a non-profit organization, we depend upon private donations to support our operations.

Who is the Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Department?

For over 269 years, volunteers of the Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Department have provided firefighting and emergency medical services to the residents and visitors of Williamsburg. Our members are local business professionals, military veterans, college students, and other average citizens who volunteer their time to supplement the career staff of the Williamsburg Fire Department. Our volunteers wear the same uniform as the career staff, and on any emergency call you might encounter a mix of career staff and volunteers, all working to the same high professional standards as part of your local fire and emergency medical services team. As volunteers, we help to ensure continuity of operations through career staff augmentation, we support large fire and emergency incidents, and provide unique capabilities that exceed assigned Departmental shift manpower availability. We also support the many special events hosted by our historic and college communities, and we provide a pathway for entry into the field of fire and emergency medical services for interested members of the community. Our volunteers contributed 4,382 hours assisting the career staff on 4,550 calls during 2022.

What are your donations used for?

During the past year, your donations helped to purchase the best possible medical supplies for the Department’s ambulances. Funds raised in 2022 purchased a skid load fire suppression system for one of our all-terrain vehicles to access fires in remote wooded areas and trails. In the coming weeks, 2022 funds will be used to acquire a portable permanent training system to teach firefighters how to maneuver in confined spaces, as well as buying special mid-rise hose packs for all of our fire engines for quicker access to internal building fire suppression systems in our growing number of multiple story buildings all over town.

Please help us today by making a generous and tax-deductible donation to the Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Department. Donations can be sent to the following address:

401 Lafayette Street, 3rd Floor, Williamsburg, VA 23185

Or via PayPal under the “Donate” link found above.

Thank you in advance for your generous contribution. We look forward to continuing to serve you!

Sincerely,

The Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Department Board of Directors
